Serra de estrela is famous for dogs of Portuguese breeds. Serra de estrela dogs but also castro laboreiro. People go there and buy. Noone wants to see in what conditions the puppies were born and in what conditions the parents live. But believe me – awful conditions. Cages with puppies are placed along the road for a whole day in sun or rain, hot or cold, to sell them to passing tourists like agricultural products. This is what they are in the head of the sellers – not living feeling beings.
And what happens if they don’t sell the puppies? If the puppies grow too big an no one wants to buy them anymore? They let them go to fend for themselves… To die of hunger or killed by wild animals.
Sarah appeared somewhere on top of the mountains in serra de estrela. She was skinny. Some tourists were feeding her for a few days. Then they left. But she already got attached to them… She run after the taxi in which they left as long as she could. Someone saw it, another tourist, fell sorry for her and brought to the area of Lisbon to find a shelter that would take her in. And it was Cantinho da Milu.
Sarah came here and she resulted to be a lovely and gentle dog. She is a bit shy at the first encounter but for food she will do anything đŸ˜‰ She is gentle, calm, obedient and social with other dogs.
