Rossi: one year closed in an appartment
Age: d-o-b: 20 July 2013
Size: medium-big (25kg, 50cm)
Others: dewormed, vaccinated, castrated
Rossi’s owner died. A year ago. His son does not live there. He lives somewhere else. He paid the neighbour to take care of the dog. The dog stayed in the ex-owner’s apartment. For a year. The neighbour was coming to give food, water, clean. Not to walk. The dog stayed there for 1 year. Without going out, without human contact – just 10 minutes per day with one person.
Finally another neighbour found out and convinced all persons involved to bring Rossi to the shelter.
It is heart-breaking. Especially that the dog was undoubtedly loved by his owner. We often get dogs of people that died, they usually have no vaccinations, no chip, not neutered, never been to a vet. We cannot help thinking that the dog is actually lucky by coming to us, that his life can only get better.
Not in this case. Rossi had a full book of vaccinations, every year he was vaccinated and checked by the vet, including profilactical blood tests. He was neutered and chipped. His owner cared very much about him and certainly he does not rest in peace.
And imagine Rossi’s anguish…. One day the person that loved him disappears from his life… and for a year he stays alone, day by day, alone 23 hours and 50 minutes per day in a small apartment.
Rossi is such a sweet dog. It is heart-breaking to think about the year of solitude he endured. A year of his life wasted. He is so nice, so gentle, so affectionate. When you pet him on his head he stops and closes the eyes. Long time since anyone cuddled him.
He is now learning again how to live. He likes going outside. He wants to smell everything. He walks well on the leash.
He is friendly with dogs.
Rossi deserves a loving home. He is a wonderful dog that endured what he did not deserve. We hope someone now will offer him a loving home.
