Henrique was found on the street….
He is a lovely dog, very nice and very friendly with people. When we enter into his kennel he tries to follow, as much as his forces allow him as he is old and walks slowly. He is gentle and nice with other dogs. It would be a miracle if someone offered him a home for his last years or rather months. He will most probably die in the shelter. So sad.

Estrela was brought to the shelter by her owner, a hunter, as she is not worth anything anymore. She is old, she does not hunt and she is afraid of thunderstorm. At the last thunderstorm which was particularly violent, Estrela was al alone in her kennel, this is where he kept her and she was so scared that she tried to jump the fence. The fence was high, she did not manage to jump, she only heart herself badly in her groin, she had a gaping hole there. Treating the dog at the vet would be more expensive than euthanizing it and given that she is not worth anything anymore as a hunting dog the owner was going to euthanize her. A neighbour advised him to take her to the shelter and indicated where. So this is how she survived… In the shelter she was treated. The vet sutured the wound. She was very calm and submissive even if she must have been in terrible pain. She is now recovering.
Estrela is a lovely dog. Very gentle, very friendly, very sweet. She gets along with other dogs. She walks well on the leash and is good in the car. She just loves people.

Benny appeared on the street but he was so scared that no one could catch him. For several weeks someone was feeding him and gaining his confidence until she caught him. Happy end. Nearly. The person in question found a temporary home for the dog where he would stay until rehomed. She walked him, she socialized him and she was looking for a new home for him. Unfortunately the temporary family let him run away… And he was on the street again. This time the person that rescued him in the first place managed to catch him easily but she does not trust the temporary family anymore. This is why he was brought to the shelter he is with us and he is waiting for his forever home.
He is a lovely dog, super gentle, but scared of people. The new family will have to be patient with him and gain his trust. Not to let him run away. He is perfect with other dogs though.
