Millie: a year to gain her trust

Information:

Name: Millie

Gender: F

Breed: x labrador

Age: d-o-b: ~mid-2017

Size: medium-big (20kg, 50cm)

Others: dewormed, vaccinated, sterilised

Story:
Millie and her two siblings were brought to the shelter in April 2018. They lived on the street. They were friendly but shy. They trusted people that were feeding them but they did not allow themselves to be touched. It was not easy to catch them but finally they were caught and brought to the shelter.
In the shelter they continued shy and fugitive but they also seemed happy dogs – they played and run around with other dogs.
We noticed an important improvement when Nina, a dog that was very social and friendly with people was added to their kennel. Nina taught them to trust people. They copied her.
Millie is the one of the three siblings that made the greatest progress. She already comes to people she knows, she trusts, she accepts a leash and she likes going on a walk. She is very gentle and still shy, especially with new people, but she has made a great improvement. Of course in a home, with a human attention focused on her she would improve even more.

Artemis: she is so sad

Information:

Name: Artemis

Gender: F

Breed: x labrador

Age: d-o-b: 12 April 2010

Size: medium (18kg, 45cm)

Others: dewormed, vaccinated, sterilised

Story:
Artemis was brought to us from a local municipal pound (together with her sister Atenas), left by their owner. She has been utterly neglected for we don’t know how long. She is dirty, has fur loss, dandruff, dirty ears… But if someone would be able to see through this they would discover a dog that wants to be loved and can still be beautiful. Just a bit of care.
She is extremely gentle. A bit shy at the first encounter but she wants to trust. One day she had a home and was well treated. Then whoever had her, stopped caring.
Instead of spending the rest of her days in a shelter where no one will notice her maybe she could still have a loving home?

Atenas could be beautiful. And she certainly was.
But she has been utterly neglected for we don’t know how long. She was brought to us from a municipal pound and we know how those places are. The dogs are lucky to come out alive but while they are there no care is given.
