Fiona: big dogs get less love/ reserved

Information:

Name: Fiona

Gender: F

Age: d-o-b: April 2015

Breed: rafeiro alentejano

Size: big (40kg, 65cm)

Others: dewormed, vaccinated, sterilised

Story:
Fiona appeared on the street and she was there for 3 months. Someone was giving her food but that was it. No-one took the initiative to take her to the vet and check if she had a chip.
Some photos were posted on facebook. We decided to help. We asked for her to be rescued. She was taken from the street and driven to the vet, and she actually had a chip. We contacted her owner and he said that she had escaped from home 3 months before but if we wanted to keep her, it was fine… He signed the necessary documents and she became ours.
Poor dog… first long time on the street and then unwelcome back home. She did not deserve any of this. She was brought to us – and what a lovely dog. She is very gentle, very sweet, very placid. She walks well on the leash, she is lovely with people and she is friendly with other dogs. Such a nice girl.

Kika: she loves everyone! Except chicken.

Information:

Name: Kika

Gender: F

Age: d-o-b: March 2013

Breed: rafeiro alentejano

Size: big (35kg, 60cm)

Others: dewormed, vaccinated, sterilised

Story:
Kika was brought to us because her owner has chicken and she kills them.
Instinct…. But apart from this she would not harm a soul. She is social with other dogs and lovely with people. We can do anything to her, she is so gentle.
Good on the leash but quite energetic. Very playful!
Anyone can offer her a home?

Lobo: so sad, an old dog in the shelter….

Information:

Name: Lobo

Gender: M

Age: d-o-b: ~2009

Breed: x rafeiro alentejano

Size: big (35kg, 65cm)

Others: dewormed, vaccinated

Story:
Lobo was brought to a municipal kennel by his owner who did not want him anymore.
People get big dogs to guard their properties but when they are old they get rid of them by leaving them in pounds and then they get new dogs. Sometimes in the same pound right away.
They never really considered the dog as a member of the family.
Lobo is very gentle and very friendly. He gets along with all other dogs – he can be loose in the main area with dozens of dogs, males and females and basically he does not pay attention to any of them. But he likes human company, he follows us around as much as he can. And he is happy to see us, he even tries to play 🙂
He is old. But still in good health. We hope he can spend his last years in a loving home.
